drawing of bunnies all around a pond full of froggies
An illustration from Tom Seidmann-Freud’s 1924 Buch Der Hasengeschichten (Book of Hare Stories), a collection for children of bunnycentric folktales from around the world. (Seidmann-Freud's uncle was, in fact, the famous Freud, and took on the masculine name Tom and began wearing men's clothing around the age of 15. Gershom Scholem, the scholar of Jewish mysticism, would remember Seidmann-Freud as: “an authentic bohemian” who “lived on cigarettes, so to speak.” More about Seidmann-Freud's life, amazing work, and tragic death here. TW suicide.)
